Prior to arriving in Slovenia, Fran played in Switzerland, Greece and for Mladost Zagreb, where he began his volleyball career.

The 26-year old outside hitter from Zagreb has been a member of the Croatian national team for the last 9 years, and besides on the field, he shows great sportsmanship in his private life also.

While most athletes spend their time in quarantine training and enjoying with their families, Fran is an active participant in charitable action by the Caritas of the Archdiocese in Zagreb.

The Peterlin family is no stranger to the humanitarian action, so in those difficult moments after the coronavirus pandemic and earthquake in Zagreb, they have decided to help those in need.

The earthquake made us really think, so we decided not to lie down at home, but to help those in need. Because of the quarantine, I don’t train much, so I have a lot of free time. I am really glad that I can do something useful, if not for myself, then at least for the others.” –  Fran commented on how he started to help those in need.

In cooperation with the Caritas of the Archdiocese in Zagreb, Fran and his brothers drive and distribute food packages to the families in distress caused by the earthquake and poor financial condition.

We transported packages of food all over Zagreb, from Sesvete through Dubrava and other surrounding neighborhoods all the way to Gajnice. Of course, we respected safety measures, wore protective masks and gloves and avoided close contact. Also, we carried packages to the Cvjetno dormitory, which houses many families who were left without their homes in an earthquake. I was really pleased and happy to see how much these packages mean to those people, even though those were small donations from various local companies.”

In March this year, the Croatian capital was hit by an earthquake, where many families temporarily lost their homes and are still waiting for proper renovations.
