Successful regional “Volleyball for Peace” tournament in Sierra Leone
Hosts Southern Region opened the event against two-time champions the Western Area team. The home side, desperate for the win, sealed the first two sets but ran out of steam as Western Area clinched a 3-2 (23-25, 15-25, 25-17, 25-18, 15-8 win.
The Western Area women’s team also beat their Southern Region counterparts in straight sets (25-18, 25-17, 25-18).
Meanwhile, the Northern Region men’s team defeated the Eastern Region 3-0 (25-19,25-18,27-25) and their women’s team repeated the feat in three straight sets (25-23, 25-17, 25-13).
Western Area also dominated both categories of the beach volleyball tournament defeating the hosts in all matches while the Northern Region defeated the Eastern Region.
