BR Volleys announced an important decision for the upcoming season. Cedric Enard, the team’s three-time championship-winning coach, has requested to end his engagement as head coach after the current season, despite his contract running until end of the 2023/2024 season. The Frenchman will be succeeded by British coach Joel Banks for the upcoming season.

Enard has been the team’s coach for the past five years, but has decided to leave the club due to personal reasons. “My family could not be with me in Berlin this season because od school obligations of my daughters. I feel like time is running out and I want to spend as much of it as possible with them. But even more influential is the fact that after 15 years of continuous work as a club coach and with national teams, I feel a certain tiredness,” said Enard.

The club managment has accepted Enard’s request and thanked him for his successful tenure. Enard will continue to work for the team in a sports advisory capacity. The announcement was made before the start of the playoffs to allow the team to process the situation before the decisive weeks.

Joel Banks has been chosen as Enard’s successor due to his experience and ambition. Banks is currently coaching the Finnish national team and will take over as head coach for BR Volleys in the 2023/24 season. “With his commitment, we are staying true to our line. He is a man who can demonstrate certain experience and successes, but still wants to develop further. We need someone with motivation and ambition for our dynamic project,” said Berlin CEO Kaweh Niroomand.

Enard will fulfill his current contract with the Croatian national team in the summer and will then consider a change of perspective. “I want to remain true to the sport in a different role, probably more in management,” he said.
