Giovi leaves after an important spell in charge, highlighted by promotion to Serie A1 in the 2023/2024 season, the Serie A2 Coppa Italia triumph in Trieste, and last season’s early survival in the top flight with a club-best tenth-place finish. The club thanked him for his commitment and professionalism.

The Black Angels have now turned to experience, appointing Stefano Micoli as the new head coach. The 58-year-old from Bergamo brings a long international résumé, having worked in Italy and abroad with clubs in Turkey, Romania, Poland, and Germany.

“This is a great opportunity,” Micoli said. “I believe this team has what it takes to fight for survival, and that’s why I accepted.”

Micoli arrived in Perugia on January 5, visited the Pala Barton Energy, and began meeting the squad. His first training session is scheduled for January 6, as preparations begin for the upcoming away match in Monza.
