The tournament, scheduled for May 13–17 at GOR Terpadu A. Yani in Pontianak, Indonesia, has already triggered a wave of short-term signings as teams race to strengthen their squads ahead of the continental showdown.

What was once considered a strategy mostly associated with Qatari clubs has now become a standard practice worldwide. The modern transfer market in volleyball has become increasingly fluid, with players frequently changing clubs during the same season. In one extraordinary case this year, a female volleyball player reportedly represented four different clubs in four different countries during a single campaign.

As domestic league competitions conclude around the world and national team preparations are only beginning, many elite players are taking advantage of the short window to secure new challenges and lucrative short-term contracts.

One of the biggest headlines ahead of the tournament comes from Indonesia, where Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi has assembled a star-studded roster for the competition. The arrivals of Slovenian standout Rok Možič, Malian opposite Noumory Keita, legendary Cuban middle blocker Robertlandy Simón, and Iranian opposite Bardia Saadat are confirmed. They are expected to significantly boost Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi’s ambitions as the Indonesian side looks to challenge Asia’s elite clubs on home soil.

Meanwhile, according to unconfirmed reports, Bulgarian star outside hitter Aleksandar Nikolov is set to join Iranian powerhouse Foolad Sirjan for the upcoming tournament, potentially adding even more star power to the competition.

Further transfer activity is widely expected in the coming days. Defending champions Al Rayyan SC from Qatar is preparing to arrive in Indonesia aiming to retain the title they won last year, and there is strong speculation that additional clubs could still reinforce their rosters before the opening match.
