Andrea Anastasi, one of the most accomplished and respected figures in world volleyball, has been appointed head coach of Berlin Recycling Volleys on a two-year contract.

The 65-year-old Italian arrives in Germany after a distinguished career that has seen him win international titles as both a player and coach, including World and European Championship crowns and the Club World Championship with Perugia in 2022.
Berlin managing director Kaweh Niroomand hailed the appointment as a significant moment for the club and German volleyball.
“Andrea is one of the biggest names in international volleyball. His experience, authority and winning mentality make him the ideal coach for our next chapter,” Niroomand said.
The reigning German champions are looking to strengthen their position in Europe after falling short in continental competition last season. Anastasi believes Berlin has the foundations to compete at a higher level.
“Berlin is a highly respected club across Europe,” Anastasi said. “The ambition, the atmosphere and the overall project convinced me very quickly.”
Anastasi has previously coached the national teams of Italy, Spain, Poland and Belgium, while also enjoying success at club level in Italy and Poland.
