Fenerbahce Medicana signed Italian coach Stefano Lavarini on a two-year contract, according to Turkish volleyball outlet VoleybolunSesi.com.
The 47-year-old is returning to the Istanbul club after previously leading Fenerbahce during the 2023/24 season. In his first spell, Lavarini guided the team to the Turkish league title and Turkish Cup, while Fenerbahce also reached the semifinals of the CEV Champions League. At Fenerbahce, Lavarini will replace fellow Italian Marcello Abbondanza, who took over in April 2025 following the departure of Marco Fenoglio.
Lavarini is also the head coach of the Poland women’s national team and is under contract with the federation until 2028.
Fenerbahce won the Turkish Super Cup last season but finished runners-up in the domestic league and was eliminated in the Champions League quarterfinals.
Meanwhile, Milano are expected to appoint a new head coach in the coming days, with Gianlorenzo Blengini and Ferhat Akbas reportedly among the candidates.
