EMS Taubaté Funvic have prepared several significant changes in the roster for the next season, according to the latest news from Brazil.

As Bruno Voloch reported in his blog, the Brazilian men’s volleyball championship Superliga side Taubaté will not be able to keep country’s national team opposite Wallace Souza after two seasons which he spent in the club.

One-time FIVB World Championship and two-time FIVB World League winner Leandro Vissotto, currently a member of Vôlei Renata (Campinas), is projected to replace Wallace in the next season. A 34-year-old player is the best scorer of 2017/18 Superliga regular season with 394 points.

In addition, Taubaté offered a two-year deal to Sesi-SP middle blocker Lucas Saatkamp „Lucão“ and aim to hire the highlight of Lebes Canoas this season, the opposite Aboubacar Neto „Abouba“.

WC 2019 W: Brazil beat weakened team of Serbia in thriller, China win Asian derby

Because the VNL consists of teams that have been invited by the FIVB, rather than have truly qualified for it based on competitive criteria. These teams (e.g. Belgium & Slovenia with the men) would unjustifiedly lose a lot of points on the ranking because they didn't pay the FIVB enough to participate. on the other hand weak teams like South Korea would see their ranking go up just purely by participating.

In its current format the VNL is nothing but a worthless demonstration tournament of friendly games... :-(

The results of the VNLs don't give the participating national teams any points for the FIVB rankings. Does anybody or WorldofVolley has any idea, why? Reply
