Turkey’s Arkas Spor and Poland’s Jastrzębski Węgiel won’t be playing second tournaments of Pool B and Pool C of the 2021 Men’s Champions League.
Due to concerns around the recent spike in the number of coronavirus infections across Europe, Arkas decided not to travel to Perugia, Italy. As for Jastrzębski, two of their players tested positive for Covid-19, while five more players and members of the coaching staff went to quarantine. Thus, the PlusLiga team is unable to compete in the tournament in Kazan, Russia.
These two teams missed the first tournaments of their respective pools in December, too. The European Volleyball Confederation (CEV) won’t impose any financial or disciplinary sanctions against Arkas and Jastrzębski.
