Lube Civitanova are the national cup winners for the sixth time in the history of the club (2001, 2003, 2008, 2009, 2017, 2020).

Perugia missed a historic record: winning the 2019/20 Del Monte Coppa Italia SuperLega in Bologna would have made them the first team to take home three consecutive trophies in the competition. As for Lube, they broke the curse: after two consecutive defeats in the final, both to Perugia, the Italian, European and world champions added this year’s trophy to their showcase.

The final match in Bologna, held in front of 9,000 spectators, was adrenaline-filled and will be forever remembered, having one the longest sets ever in the Italian Cup – the fourth set lasted for 50 minutes! The match itself lasted for nearly three hours (two hours and 54 minutes). Lube played marathon match in the semis as well.

Osmany Juantorena was the top scorer for Lube with 27 points and was named MVP of the final, while Cuban-Brazilian Yoandy Leal added 23 points. Cuban Robertlandy Simón made 6 kill blocks. As for Perugia, who suffered the first defeat after 23 consecutive successes in all competitions, Cuban-Polish Wilfredo León tallied 31 points, including 4 aces.
