A deadline for transfers for the clubs competing in the next edition of the Italian men’s Championship (2020/21 SuperLega Credem Banca) has expired. There will officially be 12 participants in the competition. Let’s summarize the highlights of the market…
The club world champions Cucine Lube Civitanova renewed with Yoandy Leal and Robertlandy Simón, entrusted the organization of the play to the ex-Sir Safety Conad Perugia member Luciano De Cecco, who’ll fill the void left by the departure of Bruno Rezende “Bruninho”. The ambitions of Itas Trentino are the highest thanks to the arrival of Ricardo Lucarelli and Nimir Abdel-Aziz. Signatures of Dick Kooy, Marko Podraščanin, and Salvatore Rossini are no less important.
Despite being weakened by the departure of the top players, such as Ivan Zaytsev and Matt Anderson, Leo Shoes Modena can count on the return of familiar faces of Luca Vettori and Nemanja Petrić, and experience of Dragan Stanković on the net. Sir Safety Conad Perugia will be strengthened by Dragan Travica’s wisdom at setting and Sebastián Solé’s timing on the block.
Allianz Milano embraced Yuki Ishikawa, Stephen Maar, and Jean Patry. Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza want to be at the very top of the table, which the hiring of Raydel Hierrezuelo, Georg Grozer, and Aaron Russell prove. Top Volley Cisterna made quite a revolution in the market, bringing in Giulio Sabbi and Kévin Tillie. The arrival of Max Holt to Vero Volley Monza can be also be considered a high-level transfer.

very useful summary !
It’s worth taking a look at the rosters and notice the amount of players in some of them. The richest clubs like Perugia (up to 15 players including Lanza) and Lube (14) and on the other hand Trentino with 13 (probably to maintain the powerful squad they have made). Modena managed to gather 14 but still the roster seems a lot weaker than it used to be last season. Verona and Ravenna with ‘only’ 12.
I see top 3 clubs next season which managed to remain very strong: Lube, Perugia and Trentino. Modena, which will have to survive next season and keep a close distance to the top. It will be also interesting to observe Patry in Milano and find out if he is able to replace Aziz, they should also have big chances this season to take Modena’s place, the same applies to Piacenza which can make a surprise with such players like Grozer, Russell or Antonov. As for the weakest teams in the league: Ravenna and Padova.
