Clara Decortes delivered a 28-point performance to lead CBF Balducci HR Macerata past Granda Volley Cuneo, while Reale Mutua Fenera Chieri extended their winning streak in Saturday’s sixth-round LVF A1 Fineco action.
Macerata secured their second consecutive victory with a 3-1 home win, moving to six points in the standings. Decortes earned MVP honors, supported by Gardini with 13 points and Farriol with 12, including four blocks.
The hosts dominated the opening set before Cuneo responded strongly in the second, led by Pucelj and Koulisiani. With the match level, the third set became the turning point as Macerata held their nerve to edge it 25-23 before taking complete control of the fourth, 25-15.
Macerata finished with 58 attack points, nine blocks and six aces. Pucelj led Cuneo with 17 points, while Koulisiani added 13 and six blocks.
While Macerata strengthened their position in the lower half of the standings, Chieri continued their push near the top, claiming a third consecutive victory with a straight-sets win over Laica Cioccolato UYBA.
The result lifted Chieri into sole possession of third place in the provisional standings, one point behind joint leaders Conegliano and Milano, who have yet to play their sixth-round matches.
Unlike Macerata, Chieri completed their victory without dropping a set, although UYBA offered determined resistance throughout. The visitors remained competitive in the second and third sets, but Chieri’s attacking efficiency and composure in the closing stages made the difference.
Giulia Nervini led with 18 points at 60% attacking efficiency, while Anna Nemeth contributed 16 points and three aces. Libero Ilaria Spirito received MVP honors after an impressive defensive display, including a spectacular foot save in the second set.
Chieri recorded 52 attack points and six blocks against UYBA’s 39 and three. Wada scored 15 points for the visitors, followed by Grozer with 12.
