Prosecco DOC Imoco Conegliano will be without Sarah Fahr for a while. The Olympic and world champion middle blocker has a problem with her left ankle and watched Wednesday’s 3-0 win over Vallefoglia in street clothes, on a crutch. “The medical staff have prescribed a period of therapy for the coming weeks. Recovery times will be assessed based on how the clinical picture develops,” the club said after tests following the Supercoppa.

Head coach Daniele Santarelli said playing her in the Supercoppa had been his call. “We knew we were taking a risk,” he said, adding that the tests are “simply to monitor the situation from the start, not because the problem is serious.” Italian press reports (Il Gazzettino) say she will be re-assessed in about two weeks and that the stop could last close to a month, which puts her Champions League debut against Novara on November 26 in doubt.
