The American libero Dustin Watten felt on his skin how managements of volleyball clubs can be cruel to players.

The one-time FIVB World Cup and NORCECA Championship winner with the U.S. National Team, Watten, lost his contract in Poland in a highly rude way.

“I got permission from the club president to go home. Today in the morning I got an invitation to the meeting at the club at 3 pm in Katowice. Obviously I couldn’t be there so at 4 pm I got a statement from the club that my contract for 20-21 is canceled... Fair play?“ an experienced libero posted on social media, three days ago.

In the meantime, he received many messages of support from fans and volleyball players and got back to Poland with a desire to continue wearing the jersey of GKS Katowice despite such an ignorant behavior of the club management. Watten added that he consulted with the lawyers who told him his contract is still valid.

In addition to Watten, Katowice ended collaboration with several more players due to bad financial situation: Emanuel Kohut, Maciej Fijałek, Adrian Buchowski, and head coach Dariusz Daszkiewicz. The contracts of Rafał Szymura and Szymon Gregorowicz have expired and won’t be prolonged.

This is just the proof how long are promises honored in professional volleyball. Last year Lube said that Stankovic, belowed El Capetano, will be coming back next year when he obtain Italian citizenship, he's been with Lube for 10 years, and we want him back. Reply

RUS W: Karpol enters Guinness World Records!

Watching Nikolay Karpol and Yevgeni Trefilov (handball, head coach of the Russia women's national team) during the timeouts always made me feel sorry for these girls and was amusing at the same time. They both created the stereotypical image of a typical Russian coach – a big guy, always unsatisfied and yelling at everyone :) Still they both achieved a lot and it cannot be denied. Reply
