According to Biznes Online, the Superliga clubs approved the option proposed by the All-Russian Volleyball Federation (VFV) in regard to the format of the next edition of both national championships.
The format is as follows: the regular season (September 26 – March 14) will be held with 14 teams and 26 rounds (round-robin) apiece. Then, the playoff for the Final Six will be held according to the scheme 3rd vs. 10th, 4th vs. 9th, 5th vs. 8th, and 6th vs. 7th. The two best teams in the regular season will go directly to the Final Six (April 4-10). The winner of the regular season will host this final stage. There will be no play-out, meaning that no team will leave the Superliga.
This format was determined for the last season, too, but because of the premature ending as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, the Final Six didn’t take place. The final decision on the 2020/21 competition formula should be made at the Presidium of the VFV, on June 26.
