Last season, Aydın Büyükşehir Belediyesi bought the right to compete in the Turkish top division from Bursa Büyükşehir Belediyespor and had only one true big name in the roster, the Dominican national team outside hitter Brayelin Martínez. Next season, they will have more than one as they signed with Dutch team duo.

Maret Balkestein-Grothues will return to play in Turkey after two years. A 30-year-old outside hitter, Best Server in the 2010 FIVB World Championship, came to Aydın from the Romanian side CSM București. During her previous stay in Turkey, she has won the national title and Cup with Fenerbahçe Opet.

A 23-year-old Celeste Plak arrived in Aydın after winning the CEV Champions League with the Italian club Igor Gorgonzola Novara, last month. The outside hitter, the opposite hitter as needed, collected one Italian Championship title, also with Novara.

Earlier, Aydın who narrowly avoided relegation from the Turkish top division in the 2018/19 but also reached the CEV Challenge Cup final, hired the country’s national team outside hitter Meryem Boz from Galatasaray HDI Sigorta.
