Doping is a subject which is impossible to avoid when it comes to the Russian athletes. Thais also applies to the Russian volleyball players.

Russia National Team head coach Vladimir Alekno had an interesting observation on this subject at the end of the 2016 Rio Olympics showdown against Canada.

„In the past three days, we have handed over urine samples as we didn’t for half a year,“ Alekno said for “Sport-Express”.

As for the match against Canada, Alekno stated his experience at the Olympic Games has learned him that they actually start with the quarterfinals and praised his bench players.

„We didn’t have our best performance. We struggled handling the Russian serves with our reception. Without a good reception is very difficult to perform. We made a high number of errors and lacked patience. We have a group of very young players on this team, so now our look is on Tokyo 2020,“ said Glenn Hoag, head coach of Canada.
