WCH 2018 W: Brazil booked tickets for Japan

Brazil booked their place at the Japan 2018, FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship after they outplayed Colombia in the last match of the South American qualifiers.

The FIVB World Grand Prix winners Brazil defeated host nation Colombia 3-0 (25-23, 25-19, 25-17) and directly went to World Championship.

On the other side, Colombia, Peru and Argentina finished second, third and fourth and they will now compete in a final World Championship qualifier in Peru in October.

Opposite spiker Tandara Caixeta was named a player of the tournament after a performance in which she scored 16 points against Colombia.

This South American title was very important for our group,” Tandara said. “We have learned how to handle tough situations and the team is continuing to grow.” 

Argentina won their second match against Venezuela 3-0 (25-19, 25-16, 25-23), while Peru also defeated Chile 3-0 (25-9, 25-18, 25-18).
