Trentino vs. Perugia
No.4 Trentino tied the 2017/18 SuperLega playoff semifinals against the top-seed Perugia at 2-2 as they prevailed in a dominant manner in Game 4 by a 3-0 (25-22, 26-24, 25-23). This means that, just like the last season, these two will play the fifth game of the series (April 18) to decide on the team that will advance to the finals. Unlike the 2017/18, Perugia will have the crowd on their side in Game 5.
Filippo Lanza topped Trentino with 13 points, while Simone Giannelli made 5 kill blocks, showing he has a lot more to offer than only a setting skill! There were no players in double digits in Lube. Their main attacking power this season, the Serbian Aleksandar Atanasijević, underachieved tonight as he scored 5 points only with a poor hitting percentage (33%).
For the sixth time in the club history, the second time in a row, Cucine Lube Civitanova will play for the gold medal. So far, they have a 100% success. The second-seed side closed the series of the semifinals against No.3 Azimut Modena by a 3-1 with a four-set win in Game 4, partially 25-19, 19-25, 25-20, 30-28.
The Bulgarian Tsvetan Sokolov and American Taylor Sander scored 15 points apiece for Lube. Enrico Cester served 4 aces. The Frenchman Earvin Ngapeth delivered 21 points for Modena.
