The 37-year old volleyball expert informed the Slovenian Volleyball Federation presidency about his decision on Wednesday, and they accepted his resignation. Slovenian Volleyball Federation will name a new head coach in the coming days.

In January 2013 Slovenian Volleyball Federation named Slabe as a head coach of Slovenian men’s national team and in September 2014 his mandate was extended to at least one year, until September 2015.

He resigned for private reasons:

Last years were really intense and I feel it’s time to spend some time with my family. I want to take a rest and seek for new challenges. I would like to thank to Slovenian Volleyball Federation and its president Metod Ropret for the opportunity, support and trust and I wish all the best to Slovenian team.”

The president Metod Ropret has already responded to the Slabe’s decision:

Slovenian volleyball Federation regrets Luka’s decision. It was unexpected, but we have to respect it. We wish him a lot of success in his further coaching career.”
