Trailing by 1-2 in sets and four points in the second half of the fourth set, the Argentinean side tied the score with resistance in the field and blocking. At 23-all, it fought for the tie-break with an ace by Martín Ramos and a block by Luciano Zornetta.
Argentina dominated in the tie-breaker to claim their second gold medal in the history of the competition adding to the one at home in 1995.
Facundo Conte led Argentina with 23 points. Brazilian Renan Zanatta Buiatti led all the players with a tournament-high 28 points in the losing effort.
