Matin Varamin caused the biggest upset by defeating Shahrdari Urmia VC, but the losing team still stands first in the standings with 13 points.

Urmia laid their weapon in front of 6, 000 home fans and after two hours and 25 minutes of a battle 3-2 (25-22, 25-20, 21-25, 20-25, 15-10). There were some tensions as well, as Matin Varamin’s player Bahram Farid objected to the referee and received a red card.

“We were doing well from the first moment, but in middle of the first set, our libero Abdolreza Alizadeh and then Pourya Fayazi got injured. During the second set, Saeid Marouf clashed with a teammate and suffered knee injury. These three injuries gave hard time to our team, mental momentum of my players fell down and it was very difficult to control it,” Jahanghir Seyyed Abbasi, the coach of Urmia, said regarding the match.
