FIVB finishes draw for 2017 World Grand Prix – two major changes

The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) has announced the pools composition for the 2017 World Grand Prix and revealed two major changes comparing to the last year’s edition of the tournament.

The draw was held in the FIVB headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland where was confirmed that 2017 edition of the Women’s volleyball annual competition will have a record prize money of 600,000 dollars and a record number of teams participating – increasing from 28 (2016) to 32 (Group 2 will expand to 12 teams).

The 32 teams are split into three groups (12 teams in Group 1 and Group 2 and 8 teams in Group 3) and will play the Preliminary Round (pool stage) for three weeks, before the Final Six (Group 1) and Final Four (Groups 2 and 3).

The Group 1 pool stage will take place from July 7-9, July 14-16 and July 21-23, and will be followed by the F6 (August 2-6). The Group 2 dates are the same while the F4 will take place from July 28-30. Finally, the Group 3 will take place on July 7-9 and July 14-16, with F4 on July 21-23.
