POL M: Leon spoke with Antiga – “There will be time for a longer conversation”

Wilfredo Leon had an interesting chat after the game between Lotos Trefl Gdansk and Zenit Kazan. Cuban superstar talked with head coach of Poland - Stephane Antiga!

Of course, it raised a lot of noise in Polish media, as Wilfredo Leon has already announced several times that he might play for Poland one day.

“It was the first real chance to talk with Antiga. There will be time for a longer conversation when we can exchange our opinions about the national team…” said Leon in the interview for Polsat Sport.

Will that “exchanging of opinions” persuade Cuban player to say YES to the red and whites?

You know, the problem is not in Leon, he’s decided and he want to play for PL, his decision has been made. The problem is if polish voleyball authorities and FIVB let him play.

For a great country in volleyball, it’s very disappointing to use foreign player in national team like what Italy did by using Juanturena! There are many talented players in Poland and they don’t need to use foreign player like what Qatar does!!!

Polish national team will sure like to have him at disposition (who wouldn’t like to have player like Leon to play) but it’s up to Antiga and specially to Polish volleyball public to decide if they would like to follow the steps of Juantorena and Italian national team. Once they open the door, there is no return. And sure FIVB will not let him play before 2017, Graca’s team will have to win OG in Rio so why help your potential opponent?

Who said Poland is a great country in Volleyball?, they still lack the personality, once a decade they win a tournament when they are the host by help from FIVB now they want to solve their problems with naturalized players, starting with Leon, who knows where it ends ,the same story goes with Italy, i wonder when Qatar is going to do that using world class players

@BLUEREDWHITE, It’s correct that Poland has not won numerous tournaments like Russia, Brazil, Italy and USA, but Polish people love volleyball and live with volleyball while American or Russian people are not interested in volleyball and even for national team games we can see very empty seats in arenas in USA and Russia! So we can name them a great country in volleyball (Definitely the most interested people in volleyball are Polish and Iranian people), And with this FIVB’s ridiculous rules, I assure you Qatar will be among top 10 teams in volleyball very soon like what they did in handball!

It is really sad to see the cuban team assisting to the olimpics with a very young team, having world top players in the best leagues. I hope the changes in the baseball will bring changes to the cuban volleyball and we might see Leon, Leal, Cepeda, Leo, Hirrezuelo, and many others playing in Rio for Cuba. If that happens beware !!!!!!……the cubans are coming!!!!!
