In a thrilling encounter of the second weekend in Pool D1 in Łódź, South American side threw France on their knees for premiere win in the World League 3-2 (19-25, 25-21, 25-23, 25-27, 15-13).
Head coach of France, Laurent Tillie, started the match with combined line-up (without Toniutti, Tillie and Le Goff) which gave the wings to Argentina. France allowed themsleves tp drop the win in tie-break as they had 9-7. But, Argentina made 5-1 run. France had another chance as they came back to 13-13. Still, Argentinian National Team was determined to claim the victory today 15-13.
Antonin Rouzier collected 29 points for France. Sebastián Solé scored 19 for Argentina who had five players with double digits unlike France (three).
Australia were also on a good way to claim their first win in campaign but succumbed to more experienced and more balanced team of USA 3-1 (20-25, 25-17, 25-23, 25-20).
Paul Carroll outscored Matt Anderson (20 points vs. 18 points) in Pool E1 clash in Rome, Italy but „Aussies“ will have to wait for a bit more to feel the sweatness of a triumph in this year’s World League.
