Will Russia travel to Ankara to participate at the European Olympic Qualifier? According to the Russian Volleyball Federation their women’s national team will be there trying to win a ticket for Rio, despite recent events that worsened relations between two countries.

But, not all from the Russian national team think that way. Nataliya Obmochaeva stated that the tournament should not be held in Ankara.

“I believe that it is dangerous and scary. In my opinion, it is necessary to move the tournament to another location, because you always need to take all safety measures to protect athletes. I hope that the European Volleyball Federation will listen to us.”

The European Olympic Qualifier is scheduled for 4-9 January and the host is Turkey, Ankara.
