Halkbank vs. Lube
The Italian team will play CEV Champions League Final Four after seven years.
What was the most interesting thing in the first set? Except a couple of great moves, we saw mistakes festival from both sides! Home team made 14, while on the other side Lube made 10 errors.
The Italian side was leading until the very end of the set, when Halkbank managed to tie and with amazing serve of Kevin Le Roux to take the lead 23-22! Afterwards, home team had three set points, but they didn’t manage to use it. In those moments we saw a lot of mistakes from the service line, but somehow Lube took the first set after huge mistake by Sokolov who sent ball out of bounds!
In the second set both teams again pushed the limits but this time we saw an answer of Halkbank. At the beginning, home team were leading but at the very end of the set Lube got two-point lead, 21-19. Bernardi’s side didn’t want to surrender and they made 5-1 scoring run to earn two set points. Lube managed to save them all, but at the result 25-24 for the team from Ankara, Osmany Juantorena made huge mistake to give the rival second set, 26-24!
When we talk about the third set, we have to mention one name – Michal Kubiak. This man was doing everything that one team needs to get the lead over Lube. He finished the second set in style – by scoring an ace for 25-22 and for 2-1 lead.
Lube were in difficult situation after losing the third set. They had to do something to keep their Final Four Dream alive and they did it. Blengini’s side started match with a confidence and quickly get four point lead at the first technical and five-point lead at the second technical.
Simply, home team couldn’t do anything to stop the Italian side. Lube pushed the game to the tie-break, 25-20!
Bernardi’s decision to send Subasi into the game to make pressure on Lube’s receivers was beneficial! After his service, the ball went to Halkbank‘s side and home side took the tie-break and both team had to play golden set!
In golden set, we again saw “point by point” game. It was real volleyball drama in Ankara. After so many great rallies, Lube got the first match point. But, Juantorena made footfault from the service line and the score was tied again 14:14!
After great block of Miljkovic on Kubiak, Lube got the new match point. But, Polish star saved it by amazing spike. The Italian side got the new match point (3rd) and Ivan Miljković was in the spotlight. After his strong serves, Lube organized counter-attack and Serbian opposite smashed to ball to send Lube on Final FOUR!
In the semifinals, Lube will face Trentino, while Resovia is waiting for the winner of PGE Skra Belchatow – Zenit Kazan game.
