Egyptian players
This was the 16th time Egypt had taken to an Olympic Games court and they had previously suffered 15 defeats in as many matches. Egypt are competing in the Olympic Games for the fourth time, having finished last on all three previous appearances in Los Angeles 1984, Sydney 2000 and Beijing 2008.
Ahmed Salah Abdelhay was the top scorer of the match with 20 points while on the other side Javier Ernesto Jimenez Scull was Cuba’s best scorer with 10 points.
