The dark blue & yellow part of Istanbul is celebrating this Thursday evening. Fenerbahce defeated their arch rivals Galatasaray in Game 1 of the 2016/17 Turkish Championship Finals and therefore made the first step toward the national title.
The opening set was the key in this match. Galatasaray were up by 24:20 and had 4 set points, but they missed all of them! Fenerbahce scored 5 points in a row and took over the lead, while couple of moments later they won the set thanks to the ace service made by Natalia Zilio – 27:25.
In the rest of the match Fenerbahce totally outplayed Galatasaray and clinched a convincing straight-sets win.
Natalia was the top scorer in the home side with 18 points, while Kim Yeon-Koung and Nur Babat added 12 points each.
In the away team Charlotte Leys and Nadia Centoni made 10 points each.
Game 2 is scheduled for April 29. The first team to score 3 wins will become the champion.
