After four months without a medal, Tokyo Olympics bronze medalists Qataris Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan are back on the winning track.
Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan beat Chase Budinger and Troy Field from the USA 2-0 (21-17, 21-15) in the gold medal match of the Beach Pro Tour Challenge played in the Maldives.
In the semifinals, Ahmed and Tijan defeated David Ahman and Jonatan Hellvig from Sweden 2-1, (15-21, 21-12, 15-13), while Budinger and Field were better than Sergiy Popov and Eduard Reznik from Ukraine 2-0 (24-22, 21-14).
David Ahman and Jonatan Hellvig won the bronze medal match defeating Sergiy Popov and Eduard Reznik 2-0 (21-14, 21-18).
In the women’s competition, gold and bronze go to Finland. In the gold medal match, Tara Lahti and Niina Ahtiainen defeated Austrians Katharina Schutzenhofer and Lena Plesiutschnig 2-0 (21-16, 23-21).
Anniina Parkkinen and Sara Sinisalo (FIN) won the bronze medal after defeating Emily Stockman and Megan Kraft (USA) 2-1 (21-18, 20-22, 15-13).
