After last Sunday’s setback with Padova (2-3), Lube’s players got unleashed in front of their own fans to earn a convincing 3-0 (25-21, 25-13, 25-19) win against Modena in the classic of Italian volleyball, valid for the third round of the 2022-23 SuperLega Credem Banca. The victory was fundamental for the morale of Lube, but also their star Ivan Zaytsev. ’The Tsar’ was given the role of an outside hitter at the start of the season, and today, he was finally returned to his natural position of the opposite because Cuban Marlon Yant recovered from the injury.

Zaytsev top-scored for Lube with 16 points. The Turk Adis Lagumdžija tallied 13 points for Modena.

In a duel between the two unexpected standouts and undefeated sides in the first two rounds, Top Volley Cisterna beat Pallavolo Padova in four sets and reached the top of the standings, unexpectedly, indeed. Cisterna continued their unbeaten run to remain the only team with a perfect record along with Sir Safety Susa Perugia. As for Padova, given they beat the two title favorites at the start of the season, Modena and Lube, a defeat today is certainly a disappointment from the perspective of their supporters.

Croatian Petar Djirlić top-scored for Cistewrna with 20 points. The Serbian opposite, Dušan Petković, put down 19 points on the losing side.

Gas Sales Piacenza’s ’dream team’ has finally felt the taste of victory for which it took them three matches in 2022–23. The good news for its fans is that its first success of the season came against the European vice-champions, Itas Trentino, whose form is not quite satisfying given the ambitions of interfering in the title battle, something that’s always an imperative for them.

Piacenza prevailed even without having the Cuban-Brazilian star, Yoandy Leal, at their disposal, thanks to 16 points from Yuri Romanò and 4 blocks from Edoardo Caneschi. Daniele Lavia scored 18 points for Trentino. The Serbian middle blocker, Srećko Lisinac added 6 blocks.
