Mol & Sorum and Hughes & Cheng are the winners of the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour, which ended on Sunday in Doha, Qatar.
World number one, world and Olympic champions Anders Mol and Christian Sorum won the first World Beach Pro Tour volleyball title. With this victory, they crowned a brilliant season in which they also won the title of world champions in Rome 2022, three golds from the Elite16 (Ostrava, Paris and Cape Town), and two bronzes from the Elite16 tournament (Rosarito and Uberlandia).
In the grand final in Doha, Anders Mol and Christian Sorum were better than the Polish team Michal Bryl and Bartosz Losiak. They won with a clear 2-0 (21-18, 21-18).
Sixth-seeded Italians Paolo Nicolai and Samuele Cottafava won the bronze medal after defeating third-seeded Alexander Brouwer and Robert Meeuwsen of the Netherlands in a great and exciting match which was decided in tie-break, the final result was 2-1 (22-20, 19-21, 16-14).
A big surprise in the women’s competition! The team that came with an invitation (wild card) to the tournament in the finals played better than the Brazilian team Duda & Ana Patricia! Sara Hughes and Kelly Cheng from the United States are the first-ever winners of the Beach Pro Tour! Sara Hughes and Kelly Cheng defeated the world No. 1, Eduarda Santos Lisboa (Duda) and Ana Patricia Ramos from Brazil, 2-0 (21-18, 21-16) in the grand final on Sunday in Doha, Qatar.
Stam and Schoon of the Netherlands secured their spot on the podium with a 2-0 (21-18, 21-10) victory over Australian team Taliqua Clancy and Mariafe Artacho Del Solar in the bronze medal match.
