Elite 16: Mol and Sørum retain Saquarema title; Brasher and Cruz take women’s gold

Anders Mol and Christian Sørum continued their dominance on Brazilian sand, defending their title at the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour Elite 16 event in Saquarema.

The Norwegian Olympic champions secured back-to-back titles at the venue with a straight-sets victory (21-16, 23-21) over Sweden’s Jacob Hölting Nilsson and Elmer Andersson in the final.

In the women’s tournament, Americans Taryn Brasher and Kristen Cruz captured their second gold medal of the 2026 season with an unbeaten run in Saquarema. They defeated Canada’s Brandie Wilkerson and Melissa Humana-Paredes in the final (21-15, 21-15).

Latvia’s Mārtiņš Pļaviņš and Kristians Fokerots secured bronze in the men’s event, while Switzerland’s Nina Brunner and Tanja Hüberli completed the women’s podium after winning their third-place match.

The Beach Pro Tour Elite series continues in Brasília from April 29 to May 3.
