After two and a half hours of fighting, three sets played on edge and numerous turnarounds, Lotos Trefl Gdańsk defeted one of the most pleasant surprises of this season’s Plusliga, Cuprum Lubin 3-2 (22-25, 25-18, 30-28, 24-26, 18-16).
Andrea Anastasi‘s side won, despite saving two match points in front of 1,830 own fans.
Damian Schulz, a guy who exploded this season, topped Trefl’s scorers with 24 points, but wasn’t announced MVP. It was Italian setter Marco Falaschi. Wojciech Włodarczyk scored 23 for Lubin.
