INTERVIEW: Emiliya Nikolova Dimitrova for WoV – “I missed volleyball a lot”

The Bulgarian national team member is working hard to gain needed shape to return on the court.

You are practicing for a while. How does it feel like to be on the court again?

Yes, I’ve already started practicing in the gym and every time I go there to have a volleyball practice I feel excited! I missed this a lot!”

What is your current focus while trying to get back into shape?

My current focus is on physical preparation because is very important after a long pause. I need to get into shape as soon as possible.”

When you are planning to return on the court?

“My idea was to be back with the national team next summer but I think I will return even sooner. We are discussing together with My agent Tunc Afsar periodically. He already forwarded me some interest of clubs, we will decide about the best option and I plan to be on court in second half of season.

Where would you like to play?

I had a very good experience in the Turkish, Italian and Japanese league. My wish is to play at a high level again and it doesn’t matter where. I am ready for a new challenge.”

You had a great 2016/2017 season, winning the title and taking the MVP award in Japan. Are you dreaming about repeating such a season?

“Of course, I dream about more seasons like those, full with hard work, good results, emotions and satisfaction!”

Is it difficult to live without volleyball?

It is because I love this game and I believe I have still more to show.”

How’s parenting going?

I think we’re doing great. Being a parent is one of the best feelings in life. The meaning of love is going to another level!”
