Of course, he has not been tested positive on corona but he has to spend 28 days at home since he came from the other country and according to the Serbian rule, each citizen who gets back from abroad has to spend almost the whole month at home.

We firstly asked him how did he get back from Russia.

How did you manage to get out of Russia?

There was airplane scheduled to fly from Moscow to Belgrade and we contacted the Serbian Embassy, applied and they helped us reach Serbia with other people.”

What is the situation with coronavirus there?

While I was there, it was the beginning of the epidemic. Some airports started closing and our goal was to reach Moscow so we can move to Serbia. In Novosibirsk, everything was, as usual, we just had a recommendation not to move out if we don’t need to go out.“

How do you spend time in quarantine, since you need to stay home for 28 days according to the Serbian law?

I am practicing, resting, spending time outside in my courtyard…“

After all, Lokomotiv won the Russian championship title. I remember when we previously talked, you said Lokomotiv have a huge chance to win the title, there are just small pieces missing to complete the puzzle. Probably you didn’t mean on coronavirus but you were awarded for being in the first place almost all the time?

„Haha“ – laughs Ivovic on this statement and says „Since the beginning of the season we were in the first place, playing in a very good way. We had our goals, game plans and if one player underperforms, the substitute player always reacts good, brings something new to keep our level of play. If you ask me what would be if the championship continued, I am not sure, but we would be among favorites. It was the first time in the club’s history to end the championship in the first place in the regular season. Circumstantially, we got the title and we see it as a reward for all the good things that we made during the season. Once again it was confirmed how important is to have a good atmosphere in the team.“

You’ve signed a new contract with Lokomotiv?

Yes, I have signed a new contract since my plans and Lokomotiv’s plans match for the next season. This club is well organized and along with Resovia one of the best-organized clubs where I played so far. The most difficult part is traveling to other cities. This year, we are going to get a new arena which will, I hope, raise the number of fans in the stands. I hope volleyball will be just right after hockey as a sport. I had no reasons to change the club, teammates are great, so, why to change something good?“

What will be with volleyball after this situation with coronavirus?

I hope this will all end soon. The whole world has stopped and the most important thing is to stay healthy. There is a lot of information about the current situation. I hope it will end and we will all return to our activities. It would be good to get back to the arenas as of August. Also, it’s questionable when the fans will get permission to watch the games from the stands. The game is different without the fans. If it happens, it will be difficult to play without the fans…“

Are you expecting to play for the national team this summer?

I didn’t get any official information but there is a possibility for the Nations league to be played. I hope we will gather together to have some training sessions because it won’t be good to spend three or four months without the training sessions. Hope we will figure out something.“

In the next season, Lokomotiv Novosibirsk will be playing in the CEV Champions League?

Honestly, I will be playing in the Champions League after a few years and I am very happy about that. Many guys from the team will also be playing after a couple of seasons. We are entering the Champions League as the Russian champions and we need to prove ourselves. Since we have a mixture of young and experienced players hope we will show something good in this competition. It’s a huge challenge and we need to be physically prepared for everything. The teams from Russia also have to play and defend the quality of the league, to show that our league is very strong. We have plenty of time until the start of the Champions League to prepare well,“ says Marko Ivovic.
