Hello Gabi, how do you spend time during these difficult times?

These are really difficult times, I am saddened by everything that is happening in the world and I hope that all these things will pass soon. My days have been around volleyball, I’ve been preparing myself physically and taking care of the psychological part, reading books, watching videos and games, talking with my family, I try to get a little distracted,“ says Gabi.

Was it difficult to get space while playing for Brazil’s youth selections since there is a huge competition?

It was an honor to be among the best representing my state and my country. It was very difficult, my generation is extremely talented, growing up with the big names like Gabriela Guimarães, Rosamaria…Defending your country I believe is an athlete’s greatest honor.“

In 2018, you had returned by playing in Egypt. What are your impressions about the league and volleyball in this country?

First, the structure they offer is fantastic, the reception, apartment, equipment, court, in short, they are extremely committed. The training was different from Brazil – the dynamics of the warm-up, technical and tactical training. I also found it interesting how culture is presented on the courts, during training sessions and games.“

The last two seasons, you spent in Brazil. How would you rate these two seasons?

In 2018/2019 in Londrina, we had a good team, but due to bureaucratic and structural problems, we didn’t have the best team’s performance. In 2019/2020, it was a year of many achievements and new titles I am very happy to have been part of the team. In-state terms, we won all competitions and I feel that we had a good chance of playing in the final of the super league, but the pandemic interrupted the course of the competitions.“

What are your plans for the next season?

In addition to evolving as an athlete, I would like to work on a team outside Brazil where I can have the opportunity to present my work.“

Have you thought about playing in Europe?

I could say that it is even a dream, I hope to make it this next season. I have big confidence in my manager Tunc Afsar.“

Are there any goals in volleyball you still want to achieve?

One of my goals is to stabilize myself in volleyball and to have the opportunity to share the court with great athletes in the world volleyball.“
