After successful performances in Zagreb and Pula, this year’s Croatian beach volleyball champions, KOP Opatija and KOP Siget, were crowned in beautiful Podstrana.
Women’s team of KOP Siget played a total of 14 matches, so after winning 10 and drawing four matches, they justified the role of the championship favorites.
In the second place was KOP Žnjan, followed by ŽKOP Jarun, HAOK Žal Banjole, KOP Čakovec, KOP Retfala, KOP Opatija and AOK Osijek.
In the men’s competition, KOP Opatija was also undefeated, with 12 wins and two draws.
KOP Siget, with three points less, ended in second place, followed by KOP Žnjan, KOP Zagreb, KOP Čakovec, KOP Retfala, HAOK Žal Banjole and KOP Čazma.
“This was one of the toughest championships in the last ten years, because all the best Croatian Beachvolleyball players competed, strengthened by players from Serbia and Slovenia, which raised the competition to even higher level. On behalf of the whole Croatian Volleyball Federation, I have to thank the cities of Podstrana, Pula and Zagreb for great cooperation, helping with the organization and respecting all the measures needed. During this tough COVID-19 situation, we managed to give our players a much-needed competition, as we did not organize this year’s edition of individual Croatian championship in beach volleyball.” – said the expert secretary of the Croatian Volleyball Federation, Frane Žanić.
Croatian beach volleyball activities will continue in August, with the club under-age championship in Pula and Split, and the Croatian beach volleyball cup, which will be played from August 14th to 16th in Zagreb.
