The Executive Group members consist of FIVB 1st executive vice-president Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, 2nd executive vice-president Theofanis Tsiokris and FIVB treasurer André Meyer.

The 2012 Congress, due to be staged at the Disneyland Hotel, is an elective Congress with President Wei having already declared that he will not be standing for election having been appointed President in 2008, taking over from Dr Ruben Acosta as the third president of volleyball’s international governing body.

The FIVB hopes all the national federations could attend this historic congress,“ President Wei said. “For this reason, the FIVB and the host national federation USA Volleyball will do all that is necessary for the smooth participation of all our members.”

The inspection went very well with all the appropriate facilities already in place while the help and expertise of USA Volleyball in helping all our members attend the Congress will be equally important.“

USA Volleyball is honored to have hosted FIVB President Jizhong Wei and the FIVB Executive Committee at the Disneyland Hotel and Resort for a final site visit to confirm its location as the host property for the 2012 FIVB World Congress,” USA Volleyball secretary general Kerry Klostermann said. “The partnership with Disney will undoubtedly result in a professionally produced Congress, enhanced by the memorable and iconic destination and the magic of the Disneyland Parks.

More than 250 volleyball dignitaries are expected to attend the Congress – the 33rd FIVB Congress dating back to 1947 – with category 1 and 2 national federations invited to a seminar a day earlier on September 18. This will be in similar vein to the development seminar held ahead of the last congress in Rome in 2010, providing participants the opportunity to discuss issues with FIVB and confederation officials while also providing a platform for the FIVB to update the federations on key developments within the organisation.

The FIVB Congress is held every two years. Anaheim was named ahead of Zurich as host of the 2012 meeting at the FIVB Board of Administration in April 2011.
