“We just have to keep on going” said head coach Stelian Moculescu after this weekend’s defeat to Generali UNTERHACHING in the Bundesliga. “We are missing two weeks of our preparations for the season and this is evident in every single game we play”.
VfB has a very tight schedule playing during the week in the European Cups and on weekends as well for the Bundesliga. VfB and Zaksa crossed their ways two years ago in the CEV Volleyball Cup and Zaksa eventually had the upper hand after home and away matches to make the semis. Last year Zaksa returned to the CEV Volleyball Champions League and ended up in fourth place after qualifying for the Final Four Tournament in Omsk, Russia. “We shall not underestimate our opponent” Moculescu warns. “They have got very experienced players with a long international career, starting with their setter, 36-year old Pawel Zagumny” he continued.
“We need to head into this game wanting to enjoy the emotions and have some fun” stresses VfB team captain Max Günthör. “It is important to play as a team. If we achieve to do so, we can claim a good result and play a good match even with Zaksa. It is going to be difficult but not impossible.”
