Brazil win South American U22

Brazil emerged victoriously from the inaugural edition of the South American U22 Championship held at the Volleyball Development Centre in Saquarema. The Brazilians defeated Argentina 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-13) in an hour and three minutes in the final. Both teams, however, have qualified for the U23 world championship in 2015.

Brazil dropped just one set as they won all their games to claim the tournament ahead of arch-rivals Argentina, who also went into the final undefeated. Brazilian Douglas Souza was the final’s top scorer with 18 hits and received the most valuable player award for the competition. Argentina’s Gonzalo Quiroga scored 14.
