Cameroon defeated Algeria 3-1 on Wednesday to secure a place in the final of the 2026 African Men’s Volleyball Championship in Tunis.
Cameroon took the first two sets 25-22 and 25-16 before Algeria responded by winning the third 25-20. Cameroon then edged a closely fought fourth set 25-23 to seal the match after one hour and 55 minutes.
Cameroon produced the stronger numbers in key areas, recording 18 serve aces against Algeria’s six and 10 blocks to four. They also held a 40-31 advantage in attacking points.
Algeria’s Farouk Tizit led all scorers with 14 points, while Elie Badawe Djakode paced Cameroon with 13. Stéphane Mbaihilamen added 10 points for the winners.
Cameroon will face hosts Tunisia in the final after the Tunisians beat Morocco 3-1 in the other semifinal. Both finalists have secured places at the 2027 World Championship in Poland, while Algeria and Morocco will contest the bronze medal and the remaining African berth.
The continental title will also carry Africa’s qualification place for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
