Khatam Ardakan won the third consecutive title for Iran after Sarmayeh Bank lifted trophies in 2016 and 2017. But in total, this is Iran’s 11th title in this top championship.
Shahram Mahmoud scored a team-high 18 points for Khatam Ardakan including 17 attacks, while Hamzeh Zarrini added 12 points. Oleh Shevchenko scored 10 points for the losing side Atyrau.
Wapda made history when the Pakistani side powered past battling Sanest Khanh Hoa in epic 3-2 (19-25, 25-21, 16-25, 25-20, 18-16) victory to grab a bronze medal.
With this gold medal, Ardakan also qualified for the 2019 FIVB Volleyball Men’s Club World Championship.
