Ahead of the 2023 national team season, the Iranian Volleyball Federation announced the roster of players selected to join the men’s national team. The official start of the national team season and gathering is set to commence on Sunday, April 16, with head coach Behrouz Ataei beginning his work without the players who still have commitments in their respective national championships around the world.
One notable aspect of the roster is the return of several experienced national team players who were not part of the team in 2022. Seyed Mousavi, Amir Ghafour, and Masoud Gholami are among those making a comeback and are expected to bring a wealth of experience to the team.
Twelve out of the 14 players who represented Iran at the 2022 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship in Poland and Slovenia, where the team finished in 13th place, are included in this year’s selection. The only absentees from the list are opposite Saber Kazemi and young middle blocker Amir Hossein Toukhteh.
