Kazakhstan’s Zhetysu VC made history by winning the inaugural AVC Women’s Volleyball Champions League, defeating Vietnam’s VTV Binh Dien Long An 3-1 (25-14, 20-25, 25-23, 25-18) at the PhilSports Arena.
Led by MVP Karyna Denysova and Tatyana Nikitina, Zhetysu dominated final match. After dropping the second set, they refocused on their blocking strength, sealing the match with a monster block by Valeriya Yakutina.
Vietnam’s Binh Dien Long An, spearheaded by captain Tran Thi Thanh Thuy and standout Vi Thi Nhu Quynh couldn’t maintain momentum against the resurgent Kazakh side.
Final Standings and Awards:
- Champions: Zhetysu VC (USD 20,000 prize)
- Runners-up: VTV Binh Dien Long An (USD 15,000 prize)
- 3rd Place: Thailand’s Nakhon Ratchasima QminC VC, who defeated China’s BAIC Motor Volleyball Club 3-1, (USD 10,000 prize).
- 4th Place: BAIC Motor VC (USD 5,000 prize).
