Minas achieved an away four-set win against Osasco in Game 2 of the Superliga Cimed 2018-2019 semifinals, partially 25-15, 19-25, 27-25, 25-19, to close the series by a 2-0 and end a 15-year playoff finals drought. In 2003/04, which was the last season so far in which they contested for the championship trophy, Minas lost the finals exactly to their rivals in this season’s semifinals. Bruna Honório and Natália Zilio top-scored for Minas with 15 points apiece and with the latter making 83% positive reception. Minas backup middle blocker Mayany Souza twisted her ankle in the fourth set and is doubtful for the playoff finals which her team is going to play against titleholders Dentil/Praia Clube. American Destinee Hooker scored 22 points for Osasco.
No.2 seed Dentil/Praia Clube beat sixth seed SESI Vôlei Bauru in Game 2 in straight sets, just like in Game 1, to advance to their third straight Superliga title matchup. Fernanda Garay “Fê Garay” was the best scorer on the winning side with 16 points.
The timetable of the best-of-three playoff finals is yet to be determined by the Brazilian Volleyball Confederation (CBV).
