A 20-year-old Cuban prospect Heidy Casanova will play in Osasco next season, the club announced on its social media profiles.

Two seasons ago, Casanova joined Le Cannet in France and remained in the club after it merged with Volero Zürich next season as well.

The opposite hitter defended the colors of La Habana, the club in her home country, until 2017. That year, she disputed in the FIVB U23 World Championship and decided, along with her teammate Liset Herrera, not to return to Cuba with the rest of the team. For now, it was the last desertion of Cuban players from any of the national teams.

Casanova will again compete for the place in the lineup with Serbian Ana Bjelica, as they both played for Volero Le Cannet last season.
