Itambé Minas beat leaders Dentil/Praia Clube in the last round of the 2019/20 Brazilian Women’s Volleyball Championship but finished the regular season in the third position in the charts.

The champions Minas prevailed over Praia in Round 22 to close the 2019/20 Superliga Feminina regular season in the third place in the standings: 3-1 (23-25, 25-16, 25-18, 25-16).

Knowing that Praia secured the top spot prior to this match, Minas only could hope of reaching the position No.2 for the playoffs, but since Sesc RJ defeated Esporte Clube Pinheiros (3-0), they were the ones to take this spot. However, there’s one thing that Minas can be satisfied with regarding the match against Praia which is that they broke rival’s 14-game winning streak.

Even before this round, all eight playoff participants were known, there was only a chance of some slight changes in the order that didn’t happen as six out of these eight teams recorded wins. The playoff quarterfinals will be played in the best-of-three series, starting next Saturday, March 14.
