Minas opened the Round 3 derby of the 2020/21 Superliga Banco do Brasil regular season for men against Cruzeiro with 2-0, allowed rivals to level, but closed the game in the tie-break: 3-2 (26-24, 25-23, 23-25, 11-25, 17-15). Thus, Minas prevailed in the classic of the state of Minas Gerais just over a month after losing the state championship final to the same opponents.
