Osasco recorded the seventh win in as many games of the 2020/21 Brazilian Women’s Superliga Banco do Brasil regular season and remained one of the two undefeated sides in the competition. The São Paulo club took advantage of the lack of rhythm and the absences of a few players of the rivals from Rio de Janeiro, who recovered from an outbreak of coronavirus (had three matches postponed) within the team.
In the greatest ‘clássico’ of Brazilian women’s volleyball – these two sides recorded the highest number of national titles combined (17) – Osasco prevailed by a 3-0 (25-16, 28-26, 25-14). Gabriela Cândido ‘Gabi Cândido’ (84 % reception; 45 % excellent) and Tandara Caixeta scored 15 points apiece for Osasco. Mayany Souza set up 4 blocks. Ana Cristina Souza tallied 10 points for Sesc Flamengo.
Dentil Praia Clube, are at 7-0, just like Osasco, after beating São Paulo FC/Barueri in four sets. The Uberlândia club was led by the Dominican sisters Martínez: Brayelin scored 25 points, while Jineiry made 4 blocks. Suelen Pinto had 75 % reception (42 % excellent).
Curitiba Vôlei achieved their first victory, which came after four defeats. They swept São Caetano (3-0) with 15 points apiece from Milena Miranda and Lays Freitas.
